About
The current project aims to engage with the diverse voices of Muslim women in Germany, Jordan,
Malaysia and Morocco. It seeks to adopt an intersectional perspective that enables women’s lived
experiences across different thematic fields such as culture, religion, employment, family, violence
and crisis to emerge. The project aims to establish a dialogue with the Islamic world by engaging with
three countries that have Muslim majority populations and linking it with the perspectives of Muslim
women in Germany (other women’s perspective are not ignored but space is created for Muslim
women to be heard).
Women’s perspectives are particularly important for the sustainable development of social, cultural
and economic contexts across the board, thereby also aiming to further promote the SDG goal No. 5
(Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls) and SDG No. 17 (partnerships for the
goals). Women’s participation and their perspectives are often sidelined or simplified.
